Horizons - Beni Ouarain loop pile rug (Bnchgra)

This all natural, undyed wool, exceptionally elegant and subtle, light cream Bnchgra (loop pile weaving) is a throw back to more ancient weaving techniques. This particular piece features aberdouhe (shawl) style weaving bands that show up best on the back side of the weaving. The loop pile weavings are made almost exclusively by Beni Ouarain women in the Middle Atlas regions of Morocco.  This one in particular shows a wonderful mixed weaving technique of loop pile and flat weave bands.
